There’s quite a collection of figures that I shared long ago on miniatures.photography before that instance eventually closed down for good. I managed to save most of the old photos I shared from back then. Since it’d be good to get them online again, I’ve decided I’ll try and trickle them out between my new stuff.
In May of 2023 I painted up some reaper bones sci-fi figures. My colour scheme for them was inspired by a post I’d seen at the time by TheNoobPainter – He’d done a rather cool teal and silver paint-scheme for some battlemechs. I quite liked how these two colours popped and I decided to try a similar (if less metallic) version of the scheme.
I had some Reaper Bones sci-fi figures that already I’d picked to be one of the first things to paint on the new workbench. For a bit of visual interest I decided that dark grey armour with and pop of teal on the left shoulder and gloves and another on the right boot would look pretty cool and decided to try that out.
I had recently bought a bunch of Reaper Master Series paints, and two of their colour triads provided the base of this scheme. The Neutral Greys triad (Stormy Grey #09088, Cloudy Grey#09089 and Misty Grey #09090) was excellent for the dark grey armour and their Ocean Colors triad (Deep Ocean #09076, Marine Teal #09077 and Surf Aqua #09078) worked well for the colour pop. For the weapons I generally went with two Vallejo Model Colour paints (Glossy Black 70.861 as the base coat with highlights using Dark Blue Grey 70.904).
Some washes were used, but I didn’t keep any notes. I know I used Army Painter Dark Tone for the armour and weapons and I may have used either their Blue Tone (or, potentially a mix of Blue Tone + Dark Tone) for the teal pieces.

Since I’m re-posting these, I decided to see if I could improve on my mini-photography process. I setup a neoprene gaming mat and an appropriate bit of terrain as a backdrop, found a decent lamp to provide some good lighting and took a few photographs. I’m pretty happy with the result.
